A Weekend In My Life…

a weekend inmy life (1).png

Hello lovelies! Today I am going to be sharing something a little different with you: an inside look into my weekend! This weekend was extra special because it was Mother’s Day (and my mom is the greatest)- so I am SUPER EXCITED to tell you all about it!

Let’s get into it:

Technically Thursday isn’t a weekend day, but I added it to this post because I had a lot of fun anyways! Thursday morning I woke up at 8AM to go to the gym with Troy. We go to the gym 3 days a week. We had a really nice workout, and then we came back to my house and had lunch outside on the back patio. After that I showered and got ready for work. I was just working a half day on Thursday, which for me is 12PM-4PM. After work I went to my best friend Katie’s house. We hung out for a little bit, went to the mall, and then decided to go get ICE CREAM!!! Ice cream is my guilty pleasure. I got the peanut butter cup flavor from Graters. We sat outside on patio and enjoyed the weather, our ice cream, and each other’s company. When we got back to her house, her mom needed to run some errands to get ready for her little brother’s high school graduation party- so we went with her! We went to the dollar tree and then to Katie’s grandparent’s house. I always enjoy time spend with my friends.

On Friday I worked until 4PM, and then after that I went to Troy’s house. Troy and I made spaghetti for dinner for the whole family! I was a bit worried because that was the first time we had made spaghetti together, but it was really good! While we ate our delicious masterpiece, we cuddled and caught up on all the shows we had recorded throughout the week. It was a really relaxing night at home.

On Saturday, I went to my brother and sister in law’s house. We were going shopping for our mom’s Mother’s Day gift and my dad’s birthday gift (his birthday was the 12th, so we celebrated everything on Sunday). We got gift cards for dad and flowers for mom, I also picked up flowers for Troy’s mom as well! It was SUCH a long process picking out which flowers we wanted to get (we were getting a variety- potted ones and the ones you can plant). We were picky about it, but in the end it was worth it because my mom loved them so much! Once we had gathered all the gifts, the three of us went to lunch together. I love spending time with my siblings.

After lunch, I went over to Troy’s and we got ready for our big putt putt tournament! We had a group of 12 friends who decided to make a putt putt tournament that was as serious as a golfing tournament (just for laughs). We really did take it seriously, though! We dressed up nicely, before we played we stood with our hands over our hearts as someone played the national anthem on a speaker, and we even had a trophy for the winner! Troy ended up winning the tournament, and I placed 7th out of 12. Which I didn’t think was bad considering I was the only girl playing. Mine and Troy’s first putts were back-to-back holes in one! We played 36 holes of putt putt and it was SO hot, but we had a really fun time. After the tournament Troy took me to get cold stone (I told you guys, I really like ice cream) and I got the flavor birthday cake remix… which is my all time favorite ice cream ever.

Troy went to hangout with his friends some more that evening, and I went home and went to bed. I was exhausted!

This morning my parents and Troy and I went to early service at church. The service was all about being a Godly woman, which really spoke to me. After church, Troy and I went to Sunday School. When we left church we got some McDonald’s for Troy, to hold him over until we ate lunch with the family (nobody likes being hangry). We went back to my house for a bit and hung out with my mom, and then my whole family met at my brother and sister in law’s house. We gave birthday/Mother’s Day gifts, and we had lunch together.

When we finished up with my family we went to Troy’s house and spent some time with his family. I’m not too sure the exact time that the festivities ended today, because Troy and I fell asleep! We must have been really tired from all the excitement!

Now I’m back home… in my bed… writing this blog. I had a really great weekend. I’m glad I got to share it with all of you.

How did you all celebrate your Mother’s Day weekend?!

P.S. Happy Mother’s Day to the most beautiful person I know. You are everything I strive to be. God has truly given me more than I deserve. I have the best mother and friend that I could ever ask for. I love you, mom… as constant as the stars above.

2018 Valentine’s Day Decor…

NOT USED (1).png

Valentine’s Day is one of my absolute favorite holidays! I love all the pink and red hearts, glitter, and reminders of love everywhere. It makes my heart happy.💕😍

Here are some photos of the Valentine’s Day decor I put in my room this year…

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! XOXO

What is your favorite part about Valentine’s Day?!

I’m Feeling 22…

NOT USED (5).png

On New Year’s Day, I turned 22 *cue T Swift’s song*! My birthday was truly a perfect day from start to end. The Lord has given me so much to adore in this life- all glory be to Him.

I wanted to share my special day with all of you! So consider yourself invited… to my 22nd birthday partaaaay!😉🎉

First thing that morning, I spent quality time with my mom… aka the sunshine of my life… aka the greatest human I know.

Next, my mom, sister in law, fiancé & I all went to BD’s Mongolian Grill… which is one of my favorite restaurants! The cooks sang to me when they saw my “birthday princess” button! I can still hear it now: “H-A-P-P-Y, it’s your birthday, have stir fry!” And our server made me this awesome tinfoil birthday bow (which I wore the entire meal, thank you very much)!

After lunch, I went home and had a small birthday party with my parents, my brother and sister in law, and my fiancé. My cake was so sprinkly, my candles were glittery, and my plates were shiny… what more could I want?!

IMG_9332.jpg To end my evening, we spent some time with Troy’s family. And finally *drum roll, please*… I saw THE GREATEST SHOWMAN with Troy & my best gal pals! The film was spectacular!

That night I layed in bed… reminiscing on what a wonderful birthday I had, and what a wonderful life I have. The older I get the years seem to be going by faster, and the blessings seem more abundant.

Happy 2018, everyone!

All my love, Emily Ryann.💖

2017 Christmas Wishlist…

NOT USED (7).png

I absolutely love reading Christmas Wishlist blogs and watching these kinds of YouTube videos because they are SO HELPFUL! Whether you’re shopping for your significant other, family member, or BFF… here are some gift ideas and stocking stuffers for the special ladies in your life:

blog33 (1)

1. A wall calendar

A wall calendar is something you can glance at everyday and get a general monthly overview of what you have going on. Plus, it doubles as room decor- I love finding super cute ones!

2. A planner

Planners are great because you can take them everywhere with you and they help you keep track of your daily life and to-do lists. I love writing things down and crossing them off, I’m type A, so this is the perfect gift for me. I ask for a new planner every year and it is one of my favorite gifts. My personal favorites are the planners from Barnes & Noble.

3. Gift cards

I am not sure why gift cards have such a bad gift stereotype? I love them!  Some of my favorite gift cards to receive are for the movie theater, Target, and different restaurants. When you give a gift card you’re not just guessing on a gift that the person may or may not need, you’re giving them a choice.

4. Chapstick

It is the season of chapped lips! EOS, Burt’s Bees, and Baby Lips are all great choices! This year I want to try Lip Smacker’s Disney Tsum Tsum chapsticks- they look so cute!

5. Nail Polish

What girl doesn’t love receiving a new shade of nail polish in their stocking? I know I do! It may be a bit expensive, but I highly recommend checking out U-Spicy nail lamps. It was such a great investment for me and I love it! Because I have a nail lamp, I always ask for Gelish nail polish… it is the bomb!

6. Jewelry

Alex and Ani, Kendra Scott, Mantra Band, and Pandora! The options are endless and jewelry is timeless. This year I am asking for Disney Pandora charms so that I can start a complete Disney charm bracelet!

7. Sweatshirts

Pretty much any over sized sweatshirt that I can cuddle up in works for me. I’m not picky, I just want to be warm!

8. Food

This is a great gift idea if you are on a budget. Pinterest has tons of adorable holiday treat ideas. It’s fun to bake if you’re the giver, and eat if you’re the receiver. Food is always a good idea!

The most important thing to remember is the real reason for Christmas: the birth of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

Merry Christmas! Thanks for following! XOXO

It is officially time to start DECKING THE HALLS!😍

I am so excited to share with you how I decorate my bedroom for Christmas and make it super cozy and cute!

This is an overview of what my room likes when you are standing in my doorway…

blog32 (2).pngblog32 (3).jpg

To the right of my door is my dresser, where I keep my favorite holiday candle (Bath and Body Works – Marshmallow Fireside) and these battery operated snowflake lights I picked up at the dollar tree!

To the left of my door is my nightstand, where I keep my jewelry box and my personalized snow globe that Troy got me for our 4th Christmas together.  I love this globe because it plays music and blows it’s own snow!

Beside my bed is my pencil tree! I picked this gem up at Michael’s and it was pre-lit. All the ornaments I showed in my latest blog are on this tree.

I also keep a battery operated candle in my window.

I keep two holiday throw blankets on my bed to make it extra cozy.  The tan one came from Khols and the white one came from Target.

Santa’s belt pillow came from Khols, and the two pillows sitting behind it came from Target.

On my desk I have some garland that I strung lights, pine cones, and berries through.  I also have a candle that lights up and blows glitter, and a sweet little snowman frame that I picked up from Khols.

Here is a final overview of my 2017 holiday room decor.

I hope you enjoyed- Merry CHRISTmas!

What I Am Thankful For…

WHAT i amthankful for... and how i pray for it.png

Someone once asked me:

“What if tomorrow you wake up, with only the things you thanked God for today?”

Wow. How powerful is that?! It really stuck with me. Now when I pray each night, I make sure to give God all the glory for all His perfect gifts from above.

I thank God for my faith, health, and safety.

  • The fact that I get to have a relationship with Jesus Christ
  • My mental and physical health
  • An incredible country to live in, and great military/first responders that work tremendously hard to protect me and everyone else

I thank God for my family, loved ones, and pets.

  • My parents, siblings, grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles (and a little extra prayer for my momma)
  • My true and wonderful friendships
  • My sweet fur babies

I thank God separately for Troy.

  • I thank Him for putting such an incredible man in my life
  • I pray that our relationship will continue to grow towards each other and towards Him
  • I pray for a lifetime of happiness and love, even in eternal life

I thank God for my opportunities and my possessions.

  • Attending my masters program
  • Having a great job
  • A roof over my head, a warm bed to sleep in, a car to drive, and a laptop to do my schoolwork on

I thank God for giving me another day.

  • I love being alive and I love being his light in this world.
  • Although I know heaven is going to be incomparable… I ask for another day here, because I have a beautiful life.
  • There is still so much I want to experience and give glory to God for.

The wrap up.

  • I make sure to pray for those who may not have what I have, or those who are struggling.
  • I ask God to keep every single person healthy, happy, and safe… and most of all to lead them closer to Him.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving! 🦃🍂💛🍁

DIY Monsters Inc. Pumpkins…

I’m so excited to share this blog with you all! Troy and I celebrated 5 1/2 Years yesterday, so we decided to paint pumpkins! We picked monsters inc pumpkins because Troy loves Mike Wasowski (and I love Disney, obviously). 😉

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

  • 1 small round pumpkin
  • 1 tall skinny pumpkin
  • Mike & Sully face cutouts (you can find these on google)
  • 4 toothpicks for the horns
  • Scissors
  • Blue, purple, and green acrylic paint
  • Modpodge
  • Hot glue gun

Here’s the process:

  1. The first thing you need to do is gather your materials, print and cut out the faces!
  2. Hot glue the toothpicks to the back of the horn cut outs.
  3. Paint one layer on the pumpkins. Let it dry.
  4. Paint a second layer on the pumpkins. Let it dry.
  5. Add a coat of modpodge to your pumpkins to protect the paint.
  6. Once all coats are dry, stick the toothpick horns into your pumpkins.
  7. Finally, hot glue the faces onto the pumpkins!

These pumpkins were super easy to make and they are a big hit! Everyone loves them! Happy painting!

Why I Gave Up Scary Movies…

I used to love scary movies.

Every horror movie you can think of, from A to Z, I watched it. I loved the adrenaline rush. I knew something bad was coming, but ultimately I also knew that that I was safe on the other end of the screen.

Then I realized, I wasn’t safe.

This all happened about a year and half ago when I was begging my boyfriend to go see the latest horror flick with me. He was not down with the idea, he didn’t like them. I teased him and rolled my eyes- it was all fake, how could anyone not see that? Then he said something that he had said before, but this time it stuck… “that kind of stuff can happen in real life.”

He was referring to the movie The Strangers, aka his least favorite movie on the planet. After he said that, something must have stuck with me, because scary movies haven’t felt the same since then.

I started thinking about how I was not truly safe while watching these movies. I realized:

1. I was not protecting my physical body.

My hands would sweat, my stomach would turn, my body would tense up and I’d hide behind a bucket of popcorn. I started questioning why I was physically putting my body through the stress of fear.

2. I was not protecting my heart.

Then I questioned why I was putting my heart through it… I was not protecting my heart from the evils of the world. Trust me, I have seen some pretty gruesome things on screen, and I can never un-see them. I made the choice to watch and now I have to live with it.

3. I was glorifying evil.

Finally, I questioned why I was allowing myself to glorify evil and demonic things. And I was actually paying money to see it in theaters!

Ephesians 5:11 says: Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

It is the season of scary movies. I realize a lot of people watch horror movies, and I don’t think they’re bad people for it… I am definitely not judging anyone for it. I was one of those people that loved them, I used to think it was just harmful entertainment.

It wasn’t until I took a step back and was honest with myself about what I was watching that I decided I was done.  There is already so much evil in this world, do we really need to willingly stream more of it into our thoughts?
